Mother’s Day is coming up. Does the mom in your life really need a mom’s night out? Show mom how much you care by treating her to the new movie Moms’ Night Out, opening this Friday, May 9th. This new comedy is the perfect movie for Mother’s Day weekend for every mom. Here are 5 Reasons why you (or Mom) should see this movie this weekend.
Back in February, I had the opportunity to see a pre-screening of Moms’ Night Out thanks to Mom Select. I had a blast with fellow blogger Didi from DIStherapy watching a movie that was made for moms everywhere. Here is a little bit about the movie.
From the Moms’ Night Out Website:
All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation . . . a long-needed moms’ night out. But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation and food not served in a paper bag, they need their husbands to watch the kids for three hours—what could go wrong? MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is an endearing true-to-life family comedy that celebrates the beautiful mess called parenting.
While there were many takeaways from Moms’ Night Out, here are the 5 biggest reasons, in my opinion, why people should see it this weekend.
1. It’s Funny
The main purpose of any moms’ night out is to let loose with your girlfriends and have some fun. This movie was not short on fun. There were parts of the movie when I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t catch my breath. The chaos that ensues throughout the movie is funny and appealing to audiences because we put ourselves in their shoes and see ourselves up on screen. It’s an opportunity to not only laugh at the characters, but at ourselves at the same time. You will enjoy how the characters continuously have to ‘put out fires’ throughout the night. The end result is lighthearted fun that will make you feel good when you leave the theater.
2. It’s for EVERY mom
The moms in the movie are all in different places in their lives. Allyson (Sarah Drew) is a stay at home mom and blogger. There’s also a teen’s mom and pastor’s wife, Sondra, played by Patricia Heaton, the single mom, Bridget (Abbie Cobb) and the Best Friend mom, Izzy (Andrea Logan White). The best part about this is that whether you are stay at home mom, a working mom, a single mom, etc., you will be able to relate to this movie and connect to the characters. It truly is a movie for every mom.
3. Trace Adkins
The breakout star of this movie is the motorcycle riding, leather wearing Bones, played by Trace Adkins. Knowing him only as a singer, I really didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by his memorable performance as a tough guy with a heart of gold. He ultimately becomes the voice of reason in the movie.
4. It’s Family Friendly
While all moms deserve a night to themselves, sometimes things happen. Rest assured that Moms’ Night Out is a movie that you can take your kids to. It wasn’t until after that I realized there were no curse words in the entire movie. It is family friendly and contains nothing that will cause you to put earmuffs or blindfolds on your kids. It’s fun for the entire family.
5. The Message
The biggest reason to see this movie is its positive and uplifting message. Its God-centered message is inspirational and not preachy. It will make moms feel that despite all the chaos, mistakes and mess, they are doing a great job. As moms, we’ve all had those times when we’ve felt overwhelmed and questioned our skills as a parent. Moms’ Night Out is the shot of encouragement that every mom needs as they make their way through motherhood. Moms’ Night Out celebrates the job we do and makes us hopeful for the future.
