In June, we were given the amazing opportunity to attend Disney Social Media Moms On-the-Road conference in Philadelphia. Our recap of the day’s events can be found here. It was a magical day filled with new friends, fun and lots of inspiration.
While the most topics of the day didn’t directly pertain to blogging per se, I found plenty of life lessons and food for thought that I can easily apply to my life as a blogger. Here are 5 quotes that I found to be the most notable takeaways from the conference.
Almost a year and a half ago, we decided to embark upon this crazy blogging journey. Were we nervous, yes! Were we sure how it was going to go, no! But we did it any way. Life is filled with so many opportunities. Don’t fear them, embrace them. If you fail, so what! Don’t live your life in fear then look back and say, “Man, I wish I did that.” I have always been a fearful, cautious person, unwilling to take a chance especially when I knew there was a chance I could fail. At the beginning of this year, I chose one word, and that would be how I would live my life this year. That word was brave. I vowed to be a braver person in all aspects of my life. This quote helped me to see that I was missing out on so much because I was afraid to fail. I now ask myself, “Will I regret not doing this later?” If the answer is yes, it motivates me to put fear aside and take a chance.
“When your child asks you a question, make sure you look them in the whites of their eyes!”~Maria Bailey
Wow! This quote hit me like a ton of bricks. I immediately thought back to all those times I was wrapped up in my own business and may have not given my children the attention they deserved. What she says is true. Children need to feel validated. They need to feel that you are 100% present in their lives and care about what they have to say. Nothing is more important to me than my children and thanks to this wake up call, they will always feel the that too.

We were invited to attend the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms “On The Road” conference in Philadelphia, PA. While the event was free to attend and we paid our own transportation and lodging, we did receive some gifts from Disney and the various sponsors of the conference while attending. We were not obligated to write about the conference. Our views and opinions are our own.
